Cultivate more faith in your life (if you want to make a real change) | Ep. 25
Sunrise in the desert is quite a beautiful thing. The night will make way when the sun comes. It always will.
Today, I woke up long before the sun in Palm Springs. I came to visit my parents while they were in town for a short trip. And so this morning I woke up and watching the darkness from the balcony of my hotel while I sipped a hot black coffee, I came up with this realization that our lives are like great cycles of darkness and light, of not knowing, and then realizing.
The reason this realization is important will come in a moment, but first, let’s continue with this beautiful present story. As the darkness around the hotel slowly lifts…
I watch one by one the lights of the windows of my neighbors across the courtyard flicker on. And groggy, disoriented humans begin to Scutter on their respective balconies. The clouds overhead slowly transition from black, to dark magenta, and then fiery purple, to a dull gray and now, a perfect gradient of white fluffy tops on the east and smooth steel gray bottoms on the west.
My sleepy neighbors in bathrobes walk aimlessly in the courtyard below unaware of the great victory that just happened. The light has conquered the darkness once again.
The reason I am brought to this reflection has a lot to do with the recent growth of my business. The pursuit of my dreams. Faith. When you are reaching for a dream, there is inevitably going to be a delay.
It might help to imagine the process of realizing a dream to be like the gears of a great old machine spinning up to start for the first time in a long time.
There is magic happening under the surface when you start to move towards your dreams. But the present you, the one that has just begun the journey is approaching this new dream in the darkness.
No just because there is darkness and there’s no signal, there is no feedback…
None of this means you should stop.
No, it actually means you need to lean into your faith a little more. The sun will not be held back so don’t start panicking about the dark.
Hold.
Stay in the game.
Repeat whatever mantra you have to to keep yourself from listening to the willow Wisps and the sirens in the night. Don’t let the fearful pull you down to the depths of their numbness. Stay with it. Resist the urge to give up, to throw your dream away.
The sun will come. It always does.
Stick with it.
Keep going.
Cultivate more faith, and trust that when you put in the effort, you will get your miracle at the end.
