How to get your mind ready to do something hard | Ep. 10

Be careful of guilt. Be on guard against shame. Remember, you are flawless, and the moment you start to think that you have some sickness, the truth becomes hazy, blurry… And like a hallucinatory poison it paints your senses so you stumble in the imagined darkness.

No. Call out the truth inside of you. Let the truth expand from your core like a blast from an EMP. Eliminating all signals of illusion, doubt, fear, shame. These do not serve you. You must allow yourself slack enough to indulge in active recovery.

Active recovery is the kind of stuff that sounds like work but feels so good.

Things like slowly filling the bathtub up with cold water, making your way to the freezer, and holding back your excuses as you reach your hand in, grab the plastic bag with the ice in it. The chill frost on the plastic melts and cracks into little flakes as you grab it, carry it with you to the bathroom.

The roar of the water faucet then becomes the loudest tiger you’ve ever imagined - echoing on the walls of bathroom and removing all thought but the ridiculousness of what you’re about to do. Every fiber of your body is screaming to stop the madness as you empty the ice in the water.

It’s cold. You Turn the water off and silence greets you.

And slowly, you put one foot in. Then another. Until you’re sitting all the way in.

Guilt fear and shame will entice you to run away, to hide from the effort by numbing your mind in a screen and a pointless story. You do not need stupid time.

You do not need sex, gluttony, and carnal distractions. Instead, focus your energy on stillness, peace, quiet resolution. Move with a dogged, deliberate pace toward a goal like a locomotive in the mountains.

Never giving up, never going home before the end.

Take pride in your power.

Sure, do you have a journey ahead of you, but there is nothing to be ashamed of traveled. Keep moving forward. Keep recovering and polishing your engines. Ignore the detours and don't chastise yourself if you happen to take a couple wrong turns. Just put your wheels back on the track take a breath, and plow ahead.
